The Resource Network for Children and Families is a project of the Violent Prevention Programme which operates as an outreach project of The Department of Psychology and Social Work, at the university of The West Indies through the Centre for Population, Community and Social Change.

▪          Meeting room available for groups interested in prevention issues (all persons)

▪          Facilities for previewing videotapes, and audiocassettes

▪          E-mail individual facilities for Violence Prevention Clinic (VPC) kids support group. 

                            ( UWI Students Big Sister and Big Brother Programme).

HOW WILL IT WORK?

The Resource Network for Children and Families will provide three major services

FORUM  This is where you post/put important events/information.

TELE-CONFERENCING -  Agencies are able to participate directly on research findings and other topical issues in on-line discussions (once per month).

LIBRARY  -  Edited content of the Elizabeth Taylor-Rossinger resource collection in the following areas:

Parenting Tool Box   - 
Parenting Tips on range of topics relating to special issue e.g. Suicide, conflict mediation, family responsibilities.

Child Abuse and Neglect  -  Basic information on types and class of Child Abuse in Jamaica.

Information on different aspects of Child Welfare in the Caribbean.

o         Adoption/Foster Care

o         Institutionalization

Child Development  - information on all aspects of Child Development and Implications for practice and intervention.

HOURS

Thursday   12pm  -   5pm

FEES

The resources Network is to all parents, teachers, students, substance abuse counselors, prevention specialists, law enforcements agents, health care providers, clergy, mental health professional, criminal justice workers, and youth workers.  Some services require participation in the membership programme.  Annual membership fees:

*    $1500 for individuals

*    $1000 for students
